This project investigates the health impacts of radiation exposure from Soviet nuclear tests in Kazakhstan. It aims to merge two independent cohorts to streamline future studies on cancer and other health effects, ultimately leading to a comprehensive epidemiological study on radiation risks.
The health effects of exposures to fallout from Soviet nuclear weapons testing among the residents living nearby the Semipalatinsk nuclear test site in Kazakhstan are not well investigated.
There are reports with contradicting results coming from the studies conducted on two independent cohorts: “historical” and “new”.
Both use different control groups and dosimetric methods.
