This project aims to enhance the field of psycho-semantics by increasing theoretical sophistication and broadening its themes. It investigates various semantic phenomena, including entailments and presuppositions, using experimental methods to test and refine existing models of language and reasoning.
Formal semantics provides rigorous, explicit models of linguistic meaning.
Such models also include an account of the possible interactions between language and reasoning abilities.
Over the last decade, thanks to the joint efforts of linguists and psychologists, experimental techniques have entered the field of formal semantics.
