This project aims to understand spinal cord regeneration in zebrafish by analyzing transcriptional processes. It focuses on identifying cell types and their specific roles in regeneration using advanced single-nucleus RNA sequencing techniques.
Because the mammalian nervous system exhibits a limited capacity for regeneration, spinal-cord injury causes permanent damage in humans.
In contrast, zebrafish regenerate their spinal cords after damage.
