This project investigates sexual conflict in the Springbok mantis, focusing on male coercion and female injury during mating. It employs field studies, laboratory experiments, and modeling to understand the evolutionary implications of these behaviors and their impact on population dynamics.
Sexual cannibalism, which occurs when a female eats her mate before, during or after mating, is a classic example of sexual conflict since females gain a meal but males lose their life.
