This project aims to create a comprehensive corpus of ancient Cretan inscriptions that have not been previously documented. It will also develop an open-access digital database to enhance accessibility and understanding of these inscriptions for both scholars and the general public.
New investigations of the inscriptions from Crete are highly desirable and expected by historians and epigraphists of ancient Greece.
The Inscriptiones Creticae (I.Cret.), vol. I-IV, published by M.
Guarducci between 1935 and 1950, lacks both of the fifth volume, which should have been devoted to the inscriptions of Cretan localities that are no longer identifiable, and of a supplement on inscriptions discovered in the last 90 years.
