The SAT-Q project explores thermodynamics in quantum systems by treating their surroundings as quantum entities. It aims to develop a scattering approach that enhances our understanding of energy and information exchange at the quantum level, with applications in quantum transport and optics.
Understanding thermodynamics in the quantum regime involves the understanding of how energy and information are exchanged between a quantum system and its surroundings.
Although the laws of thermodynamics are well understood for macroscopic classical environments, advancements in quantum technology press the need for a microscopic approach which treats the surroundings as a quantum system in its own right.
