The SAMBAfun project is developing a novel cardiac monitoring solution that integrates a 3-axis accelerometer with standard epicardial pace leads. This technology aims to provide continuous, real-time assessment of cardiac function during and after open-heart surgeries, improving patient outcomes.
In patients undergoing open-heart surgeries, perioperative cardiac monitoring is used to track the functioning of the heart and identify complications.
However, myocardial failure and other severe complications can escape detection using current monitoring technologies, given the trade-offs between invasiveness, real time measurements, accessibility and accuracy of data.
