The iSafeTouch project develops a novel microfilm technology that kills pathogens on surfaces using heat. It integrates sensors and heaters into flexible substrates, aiming to provide a safer alternative for high-touch surfaces in healthcare settings.
The transmission of pathogens from contaminated surfaces to humans is a major threat for the public health as it is associated withHealthcare Acquired Infections (HAIs) and Community Acquired Infections (CAIs).
Maintaining surfaces clean from pathogens is anundisputable requirement but, at the same time, a laborious, manual, costly process that requires use of harmful chemicals.
