The SAFARI project aims to create scalable and flexible optical transport networks to handle increasing data traffic demands. It focuses on developing programmable optical hardware and advanced technologies to enhance network capacity and flexibility for future applications.
Highly scalable & flexible optical transport networks are urgently required in order to meet the demands for unrelenting exponential data traffic growth (estimated at 40 - 50 % per annum).
