ROUTINE aims to develop a rapid diagnostic tool for Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) that can identify bacterial species and their antibiotic resistance profiles within 30 minutes. This innovation seeks to improve patient treatment and combat antibiotic resistance effectively.
Treatment of Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) is currently initiated empirically because conventional diagnosis takes 2-3 days from sample to results.
Moreover, the pharmaceutical pipeline is almost dry.
Therefore, the last decade has globally witnessed a huge explosion of antibiotic (AB) resistance in Gram Negative Bacteria (GNB), which has drastically reduced the available AB therapy choices for UTI.
The WHO considers this one of the major public health threats.
