ROAM investigates the use of orbital angular momentum modes in optical communications to significantly increase data transmission capacity. It aims to develop a testbed that combines OAM multiplexing with wavelength division multiplexing, targeting enhanced scalability and efficiency in data-center applications.
The overall objective of the ROAM project is to investigate and demonstrate the use of the orbital angular momentum (OAM) modes of light for communications and networking.
