The RESTORE project aims to develop a novel biomaterial platform for treating osteoporotic vertebral fractures using advanced 3D printing. It combines a biodegradable stent and a thermoresponsive hydrogel to enhance bone regeneration and provide targeted therapeutic delivery.
Osteoporotic vertebral fractures (OVFs) are the most common complication of osteoporosis.
Current treatment involves conventional procedures that inject cement into the vertebrae to stabilise the spine and relieve pain.
