This research examines the regeneration of Amazonian flood forests after fire events. It investigates the role of fish in seed dispersal and how fire impacts forest recovery, particularly in the context of increasing drought conditions.
The riparian forests that flank the major rivers in the Amazon Basin form a highly distinct ecosystem that connects the most biodiverse aquatic and terrestrial environments on the planet.
These ‘flood forests’ are inundated for periods of up to six months each year.
