This project historicizes the evolution of reproduction, examining its transformation from a biological concept to a technoscientific phenomenon. It investigates reproduction's interdisciplinary implications across medicine, agriculture, and public health, particularly in non-Western contexts.
The aim of this project is to historizise the shifts and moves reproduction underwent from a concept that described a pregiven capacity fixed in “life” and defining matter as “living” to a capacity apprehended through technoscience and open to transformation.
It focuses on the 20th century as a central period when the “technoscientific turn” in reproduction took place.
