This project investigates the role of small RNAs in gene regulation and their potential to induce chromatin modifications. By studying fission yeast and mammalian cells, the project aims to uncover conserved mechanisms that govern RNA interference and epigenetic regulation.
RNAi refers to the ability of small RNAs to silence expression of homologous sequences. A surprising link between epigenetics and RNAi was discovered more than a decade ago, and I was fortunate enough to be involved in this exciting field of research from the beginning.
