This project investigates the impact of motivation and reward on cognitive functions, particularly in relation to neurological and psychiatric disorders. It aims to develop a comprehensive framework to understand how rewards influence cognitive operations and their underlying neural mechanisms.
Motivation is a central topic in psychology, not least because of its strong interrelation with other psychological concepts, as well as with various clinical conditions.
Beyond globally energizing behavior, recent studies have begun to describe effects of extrinsic reward on various specific cognitive operations like conflict resolution, inhibitory control, and memory formation.
