This project explores the role of macrophages in heart recovery after myocardial infarction in type-2 diabetes patients. It aims to uncover the mechanisms of impaired cytokine secretion and develop new therapeutic strategies to enhance recovery and prevent further cardiac events.
Type-2 diabetes (T2D) is a chronic condition strongly associated with cardiovascular diseases, mainly recurrent myocardial infarctions (MI), and generating enormous healthcare cost.
