This project investigates how SUMO modification influences the organization of the genome and nuclear processes such as DNA transcription and repair in yeast. By studying the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the project aims to clarify the role of sumoylation in regulating nuclear dynamics.
The organisation of the genome into separate domains and sub-compartments through higher order chromatin structure is an important means by which eukaryotic cells control nuclear processes such as DNA transcription and repair.
