This project focuses on developing new chemical compounds that target peroxiredoxin proteins, which are linked to various diseases. By using high-throughput screening methods, it aims to identify effective therapeutic agents for conditions like cancer and metabolic diseases.
The Peroxiredoxin proteins represent a currently untapped molecular therapeutic target.
We recently characterised a rangeof novel chemical compounds that could alter the function of one of the peroxiredoxin family members, peroxiredoxin 4(PRDX4).
The approach involved high-throughput computational “virtual” compound screening involving our supercomputerfacility at the University of Cambridge.
