This research explores the concept of memory reconsolidation in humans, focusing on how memories become unstable upon reminder and require new protein synthesis to stabilize. It combines virtual reality and neuroimaging to investigate the role of spatial context in memory processes.
One of the most intriguing topics in neuroscience and memory research today is ‘reconsolidation’: the phenomenon that a brief reminder renders an already consolidated memory labile again and that this fragile memory requires de novo protein synthesis to be reconsolidated.
