This project aims to develop a new class of quantum optics systems on silicon chips, integrating entangled-photon sources and single-photon detectors. The focus is on creating scalable and efficient quantum photonic systems for advanced computing and fundamental physics exploration.
Quantum technologies based on photons provide a promising path for building and using complex quantum photonic systems for both exploring fundamental physics and delivering quantum-enhanced technologies.
While there have been impressive proof-of-principle demonstrations based upon on bulk optical elements, future technologies will require integrated optics architecture for improved performance, miniaturization and scalability.
