This project aims to explore bacterial pathogen proteoforms that facilitate infection in mammalian hosts. By developing advanced proteogenomic tools, it seeks to analyze bacterial translation and protein expression during host cell infection, enhancing our understanding of pathogen virulence.
My recent findings revealed translation of numerous previously unidentified (small) open reading frames and expression of alternative N-terminal proteoforms when studying bacterial translation.
