PRO-EEL aims to develop standardized protocols for producing European eel larvae to support aquaculture. The project focuses on understanding hormonal control and physiology to enhance artificial reproduction methods.
The recent decline of European eel (Anguilla anguilla) and no signs of recovery has brought attention to the biologically unsustainable exploitation of the stock.
