This project investigates the molecular changes in prion-infected mice to understand the progression of prion diseases. By analyzing gene expression and translation rates, it aims to identify key genes and pathways involved in neurodegeneration, potentially leading to targeted therapies for these fatal conditions.
Prion diseases are fatal neurodegenerative diseases and are caused by proteinaceous infectious particles termed prions.
The infectious agent of prion diseases has been identified decades ago, but the actual cellular processes that subsequently cause neurons to degenerate remain poorly understood.
