This research project investigates fundamental questions in thermodynamics, focusing on non-hydrostatically stressed solids. It aims to combine theoretical and experimental approaches in Grenoble to enhance knowledge in physics, earth science, and materials science.
I am a Professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Oslo, and I am currently 1 of 6 full time professors at the Norwegian Research Centre of Excellence on the Physics of Geological Processes (PGP), where I am responsible for all its experimental activities.
Although there is a wide range of expertise in PGP, there are still limitations to our knowledge, tools and research techniques which must be overcome.
