PRESERT investigates the role of the serotonin transporter in social cognition, particularly in relation to neuropsychiatric disorders. The project aims to explore how manipulating this transporter can influence social behaviors in mice, potentially leading to new treatments.
Neuropsychiatric and neurodevelopmental disorders are a heterogeneous group of mental diseases affecting about 1 billion people worldwide.
