This project explores the physical properties of chromosomes and their biological functions, focusing on chromatin dynamics during replication. It aims to develop tools for manipulating chromosomes and to map replication factories in yeast to understand chromosome evolution and cancer.
The remarkable structure and the key role hold by the DNA molecule in the living world raise numbers of fascinating questions with regard to its apparition and its evolution.
However, little is known so far about the potential interplay between the physical status of chromosomes and their diverse biological functions. I aim at addressing these questions.
