This project aims to extend the chemistry of ruthenium and osmium clusters using N-heterocyclic carbenes to develop new catalysts for organic synthesis. It focuses on synthesizing new complexes and studying their reactivity for key chemical transformations.
The purpose of this project is to extend the chemistry of ruthenium and osmium clusters derived from N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHC) to the silicon, germanium and tin analogues (NHM, M = Si, Ge, Sn).
The interest of this proposal is based on: (a) the absence of this kind of polymetallic compounds, (b) the interesting Ru3-NHC and Os3-NHC chemistry reported recently by Cabeza, Whittlesey, Cooke and Cole, amongst others, which cannot be replicated by mononuclear derivatives, and (c) the fact that Ru-…
