PODER trains doctoral students in policy design and evaluation techniques to combat poverty. The project emphasizes rigorous methodologies and fieldwork, aiming to enhance the quality of development economics research and create a sustainable research training infrastructure across Europe.

New approaches to policy design have recently emerged.
These rely on controlled experiments as well as analysis of natural policy experiments.
They allow us not only to evaluate whether a policy has been successful but also to test the theoretical channels through which the policy is assumed to operate.
