This project investigates the role of intestinal epithelial cells in maintaining proteolytic balance in the gut. It aims to understand how these cells influence gut function and communication with enteric neurons in gastrointestinal diseases.
In several gastrointestinal diseases such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel diseases, proteolytic homeostasis is disrupted.
This disruption has an important impact of the pathophysiology of those diseases.
