This project explores how barley plants acquire essential micronutrients like zinc and copper from the soil, particularly under nutrient-deficient conditions. By studying root exudates and employing advanced techniques, it aims to enhance crop yield and improve food quality.
Understanding how plants respond to micronutrient deficiency and which biogeochemical processes are induced at the root-soil interface, i.e. the rhizosphere, is crucial to improve crop yield and micronutrient grain content for high quality food and feed.
