This project aims to identify and characterize the molecular regulators of photosynthesis in plants, focusing on the unique C4 photosynthesis pathway. By comparing different plant species, it seeks to enhance understanding of photosynthetic gene regulation and support efforts to improve crop traits.

Despite its fundamental importance, our knowledge of the molecular regulators that control the expression of photosynthetic genes is limited, and only four transcription factors are known to regulate the expression of cohorts of photosynthetic genes in plants.
