PERISCOPE aims to address the rising incidence of pertussis by identifying protective biomarkers and enhancing vaccine development. The project focuses on understanding the immune response to Bordetella pertussis and aims to improve vaccination strategies.
Pertussis vaccines have been very successful in reducing the global burden of pertussis-related disease.
However, in the last decade there has been a rise in pertussis incidence, particularly in vaccinated adolescents and adults in industrialized countries.
