This research project investigates the mechanisms of perceptual learning, which enhances the ability to distinguish between similar stimuli. By employing various neuroscience techniques, the project aims to understand the neural basis of this skill and its applications in areas like face recognition and wine tasting.
Perceptual learning is fundamental to human cognition.
It can be defined as an enhancement in the ability to distinguishbetween similar stimuli (that otherwise would be very hard to tell apart) as a consequence of experience with them, or withstimuli similar to the target stimuli.
