This project seeks to improve aircraft health monitoring systems by developing a reliable strain measurement system that combines electrical and optical sensors. It aims to enhance maintenance planning and reduce operational costs by providing accurate data on the load history of structural components.
There is increasing need for aircraft health monitoring to plan maintenance and reduce operational costs, however to date SHM has not been widely embraced.
