This project aims to understand the role of the Oxr1 gene in protecting neurons from oxidative stress, which is linked to neurodegenerative diseases. It will explore the interactions of Oxr1 with other proteins and its significance in mitochondrial function.
Oxidative stress (OS) is implicated in the pathogenesis of some of the most devastating neurological diseases.
Therefore, identification of pathways that counteract oxidative damage may lead to therapeutic strategies applicable to a wide range of disorders.
