The PALEOQUINOA project investigates the genetic, transcriptomic, and epigenetic changes in quinoa over the last 3,500 years using ancient DNA techniques. By analyzing archaeological specimens, it aims to uncover lost genetic diversity and enhance quinoa's adaptability to ensure food security.
Quinoa is a highly nutritious grain identified by the UN as an essential crop to improve world food security.
