Arslan's project reexamines late Ottoman literatures within a multilingual Mediterranean context, focusing on cultural exchanges and thematic connections. It aims to transform the study of Mediterranean and Ottoman literatures by integrating contemporary theoretical frameworks and archival research.
Arslan’s project proposes a new paradigm for studying late Ottoman literatures that were written in the nineteenth and early twentieth century and in different languages such as Arabic, Ottoman Turkish, and French by situating these literatures in a multilingual and multicultural Mediterranean framework instead of their respective national communities.
