OSIRIS aims to reduce energy consumption in urban rail systems by adopting a holistic approach that considers vehicles, infrastructure, and operations. The project will develop performance indicators and decision support tools to optimize energy use across the entire system.
For many transport modes, energy reduction strategies can be effectively formulated at the level of the vehicle or vessel.
New technologies can therefore be introduced to a vehicle and the direct energy savings can be readily quantified.
