This project focuses on identifying early markers of Alzheimer's disease by studying changes in brain oscillatory activity. It aims to develop electrophysiological tools to improve early diagnosis and understanding of cognitive abnormalities associated with the disease.
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most common form of dementia.
Generally, it is diagnosed in people over 65 years of age, although the less prevalent early-onset Alzheimer's can occur much earlier.
As of September 2010, this number is reported to be 35.6 million worldwide. AD develops for an indeterminate period of time before becoming fully apparent, and it can progress undiagnosed for years.
