This project explores 'orbital molecules' in transition metal oxides, particularly focusing on the discovery of trimerons in magnetite. It aims to investigate the self-organization of these states and their implications for future technologies.
‘Orbital molecules’ are made up of coupled orbital states on several metal ions within an orbitally-ordered (and sometimes also charge-ordered) solid such as a transition metal oxide.
