This project uses optogenetics to investigate how cells move collectively, focusing on epithelial cells. By controlling cell mechanics with light, the research aims to understand the dynamics of cell groups in various biological contexts.
Collective cell motility states, such as multicellular flocking and jamming, are active matter states that play important roles in development and disease.
However, much of the dynamics of these collective states remains to be discovered.
