This project focuses on understanding fire behavior in high-rise buildings, particularly how flames spread through façades. By simulating enclosure fires using computational fluid dynamics, the research aims to inform safety regulations and improve fire resistance in building designs.
Fire growth through spreading up the façade of high-rise buildings can lead to catastrophic loss of life and property.
Façades at times are required to have a fire-resistance rating, for instance, if two buildings are very close together, to lower the likelihood of fire spreading from one building to another.
