This project explores how messenger RNA (mRNA) localization occurs in bacteria, specifically in Bacillus subtilis. By employing advanced sequencing techniques, it aims to uncover the mechanisms and factors influencing mRNA targeting within the cell, contributing to our understanding of cellular processes.
In eukaryotic cells mRNAs can be localized to specific places within a cell to achieve protein synthesis with spatiotemporal control.
Recently, I and others have shown that prokaryotes can also target mRNAs to specific parts of the cell.
