This project explores the interactions between non-retroviral RNA viruses and their mosquito hosts, particularly Aedes albopictus. It aims to understand how these viruses integrate into host genomes and their potential impact on vector competence and public health.
Recent discoveries clearly show that non-retroviral RNA viruses, despite not coding for reverse transcriptase and integrase, can transfer genetic material to their hosts, similarly to DNA viruses and retroviruses.
