This project explores the link between chronic inflammation and the onset of Alzheimer's disease. It aims to identify how modulating inflammatory processes can potentially delay the disease's progression and improve brain functions, providing insights for future therapeutic strategies.
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is the most common neurodegenerative disease and accounts for the majority of diagnosed dementia after age 60.
It is estimated to currently affect between 20 and 30 million people worldwide, with 4 millions in the U.S. alone.
As life expectancy increases in developed countries, the prevalence of AD, and its burden on healthcare, is very likely to increase dramatically in the next few decades.
