This project investigates the generation of new neurons from astrocytes in the brain, particularly after injury. It aims to understand the mechanisms regulating neurogenesis and explore potential therapeutic applications for neurological diseases.
It is now well established that new neurons are added to certain regions of the adult brain.
There is today considerable interest in the development of regenerative therapies based on modulating endogenous neurogenesis, but it is necessary to better understand these events to assess whether this is rational and realistic.
