This project studies the vertebral column and thorax of Neandertals to understand their evolution and biomechanics. By analyzing fossil remains and using 3D reconstruction techniques, it aims to shed light on their physical adaptations and potential factors influencing their extinction.
The vertebral column and thorax are key anatomical regions in human evolution to understand upright bipedal posture and locomotion in terms of weight transmission, equilibrium, habitual loading and kinematics.
