This project develops a nano-sized protein reactor to embed vitamin B12 for studying reductive dechlorination reactions. It aims to create environmentally friendly catalysts for degrading harmful chlorinated pollutants, enhancing detection and understanding of contamination at a molecular level.
This proposal describes a novel strategy for the embedding of vitamin B12 into a nano-sized protein reactor, in order to study the mechanism of reductive dechlorination reactions.
This work will be the first study to observe catalysis in the alpha-hemolysin nanoreactor and will pave the way to the design of new biologically friendly catalysts for the degradation of harmful poly-chlorinated pollutants.
In the experimental apparatus, preformed pores, (Staphyloccocal alpha-hemolysin) will be introd…
