This project focuses on developing mRNA formulations to reprogram synovial cells for tissue regeneration in rheumatoid arthritis. By combining targeted mRNA delivery with existing therapies, it aims to restore joint health and enable long-term repair, potentially transforming treatment for this debilitating condition.
As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie (MSC) fellow, I aim to engineer clinically focused mRNA formulations for rewriting the biology of synovial cells and unlocking regeneration in rheumatoid arthritis, and expand the capabilities of current Disease Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drugs (DMARDs).
The current first-line therapies for rheumatoid arthritis (RA), DMARDs, effectively manage inflammation but do not regenerate destroyed bone tissue, leading to lifelong disability and pain.
